The R&B singer breaks down his participation on ABC's Dancing With The Stars.

At 21, R&B superstar Mario’s resume already includes a Billboard number-one single (“Let Me Love You”), a platinum-selling album (Turning Point) and appearances in major Hollywood films like Step Up (Touchstone Pictures) and Freedom Writers (Paramount Pictures). So, what more can the talented singer/actor/dancer do? Try joining the sixth season of ABC’s hit reality show Dancing With The Stars, which kicked off in March and includes former ice-skating champion Kristi Yamaguchi, and NFL star Jason Taylor. With the field of contestants now down to seven (Mario finished tied for second with Taylor with a score of 27 out of 30 for his samba routine on Monday), Mario talks to VIBE.com about the show’s intense training regimen, the judges, and dances around the rumors about his relationship with dance partner Karina Smirnoff.

Y'all really want me to win this thing! I practiced day and night to make up for last week and it paid off!!!!! I know the cape was over the top, but you gotta try everything once. That move was a lot harder to learn than it looked. Trust me! Those judges can be tough to please, but as long as we know I gave it everything I had that is what counts.Thanks for checking me out on Regis & Kelly and all the great feedback. I give every show 200% and I'm glad it shows through. Oh, I like all of your suggestions for my song list when I go on the road. I think I can get most of them in the set, but don't be mad at me if I miss 1 or 2. It's only because they give me a certain time limit. I'd be up there for 2 hours if someone didn't tell me it was time to go........ When I make that connection with the audience, it's tough for me to end it. I can't announce the dates yet, but I should be able to any day now. Keep checking back and I'll make sure it's on the site. Well, it is 5am and time to start my morning radio show interviews. See how early I get up to show everyone love. LOL. I do it every Wednesday, so hit me and let me know where you are and I'll try to call your city next week. I am officially shooting my new video next week!

Did I just really do the Tango on Live Television? Lol. Hope y'all enjoyed that one. We are one step closer to makin it ALL THE WAY.
I am so grateful for all the continued support with the show, my album, the love I get on radio, tv, online, EVERYTHING! I honestly can't say it enough.
I will be in NYC this week. (actually getting on a plane in a few minutes) I'm taping the Regis & Kelly show, rehearsing for my new video, rehearsing for the show next week with Karina and maybe jumping in the studio for a few hours. Sounds like a lot to pack in 2 days, but I guess I can always sleep on the plane. So much to do, so little time.
Well, the concept for my video is done. I finally got it where I need it to be. I think it'll be the best video I've ever done. Can't have it any other way for you guys! No moving backwards, always gotta move forward trying new things and being innovative. You guys should hit me back and let me know what songs you'd like me to do on my tour and I'll try to put as many of them as possible in my set. I start rehearsals for it in a few weeks, so let me know.........peace - MARIO

MARIO PONDERS THE QUICKSTEP ON NEXT WEEK'S DWTS!

Baltimore-born singer and new reality TV star Mario says he's a little worried about his upcoming Monday night performance on ABC's Dancing With the Stars.

"I have to do a dance called the quickstep," he said in a Sun interview today. "And it's called the quickstep because it's pretty doggone quick. It's a lot more difficult than the cha-cha [the dance he did so impressively on the season premiere] for me. It's more formal, and the posture is more important -- the posture and the form. So, I'm a little anxious about whether we'll have it down by Monday night."

The good news: Mario says he is feeling better after working his way through groin and hamstring injuries incurred while he was training with partner Karina Smirnoff.
