I bought "Freedom Writers" this past weekend and have already watched it four times (my sister has watched it two of those four times with me and loves it too). I must say that Mario did a great job and I have cried every single time I watch the scene when he cries after the teacher confronts him about giving himself a failing grade. But while that's my favorite "sad" scene, my favorite "happy" scene is the one when he and the rest of the class are doing the electric slide and suddenly drops it--lol! Overall, the movie and cast is great and it's become a part of my long list of my favorite movies.

Honestly, my first time watching the movie was about 3 weeks ago in my African History class. I have heard soooooo many rave reviews about it in magazines, on the internet and through friends but I never got the chance to take spare time out and view it on my own. I was so happy when I went to class and finally got to watch it. It was so heart warming. Everytime Mario would appear in a scene I would let out a little scream and everyone in my class would look at me laughing...lol.
Although everyone says that it's not one of those movies to cry about like "Titanic", I still shed a few tears in the scene where his teacher was letting him know that she wasn't going to give up on him. That scene reminded me of a teacher that I had in elementary that alway's gave her 100% to all her students (especially me...lol), and it just touched home for me because that woman is the reason why I try so hard to accomplish all that I can in school. If it weren't for her I would have probably dropped out. I would love to see Mario star in another movie. If that is going to happen anytime soon please let us know.

Yeah this is a good movie. I need to buy DVD.

I loved this movie and Mario's performance in it.

i think it was a great movie and he did a great job and i watch the movie like ten times then after that i went and got thee book i was sad when every time mario go home in the movie his mom is drunk or high that was very sad but i was happy when the whole class came in the circle and start reading the book and they all ways reaaly listen ing and not giving up..............

Okay, maybe I'm a little late in seeing this movie... but I'm glad I did. My professor showed it last night in class. You, Mario, were so believable... and I advice any young person going through TOUGH situations at home and in school to see this movie. I also advice any teacher, as I am, to also see this movie. It will encourage and uplift you. Fantastic job to you, Mr. Barrett and all the other cast members, directors, and so forth. I want to both own the book and the movie. Keep up the good work.

The message in Freedom Writers' is a very deep message. Mario's role was very well thought of. It definitely showed Mario in a different light as well as a few other writers. I love the scene when Mario cries or I should say dropped a few tears to make it more manly :)

It's all about the connection that you get from an actor in a movie that makes a movie Memorable. That scene touched me deeply and I am very proud of Mario. He's going to make a special lady happy one day! I tip my hat to you.

*Ashley* You'll Luv Me Flaws & All

Now before i saw freedom writers. i stopped writing because i was going through so much stuff in my life like my house caught on fire, things with my mother and family was stressing me out (which it still is ) but after seeing the movie i begun writing again. That movie inspired me so much to the point where i am writing everyday again. I feel that someone will understand what i go through in life and relate to it..

Love me for me

I know that I am late with it, but i finally saw Freedom Writers, and i must say it was a great movie. Education is one of my first loves, so to see a movie that addresses the issues that I've grown up seeing all my life, made the movie touch my heart. I love the fact that it was a true story, and i also love the fact that there was a teacher out there who cared so much, that she was willing to go out of her way, to make sure that her students wouldnt become or believe that they were failers. The movie taught me that one person can truly make a difference, and that gives me hope for the things i want to do in my own life. That movie gets two thumbs up from ya girl North Star. P.S. Mario did a wonderful job with the character Andre.

I think he did a wonderful job in that movie. I wasnt sure how he was going to do because his part in Step Up wasnt that big and you couldnt really form an opinion about his acting (at least i couldnt). So to see him do that good in freedom writers was a great thing. i was proud of him. even my friends who arent mario fans had to give him his props. I really liked the scene where he was crying. It was such a touching scene. GREAT JOB MARIO!!

Imma tell it like it is

...yea, he sure is a great actor, I agree :D
I'll be glad when he does another movie, too ... I'd like 2 see him in a serious role again, cuz y'know I always say he's very passionate, right? ... I think a movie based on real-life would be cool 4 him; thought-provoking, heart-wrenching
but, then I don't know, cuz Mario said he gets 2 involved in those movies and stuff ... sooooo ;)

I just found my "Freedom Writers" DVD, so I think I'm going 2 watch it momentarily :D ...

oh wait, I have a script I'm working on right now, but he probably wouldn't wanna do what I'll have him doing in the movie ::lol::
;) ;)

tha movie is sooooo damn good nad i can say that Mario has a trully believable character. this shows he can great actor and a "fantaboulous" singer!! lol tha movie it's in my top 3 favorite movies ever...right afet Love nd Basketball damn right!!!

It's excellent and he did his thing I always cry when he's getting his evaluation from Ms. G and the movie in its entirety is so deep. So yeah, Mario killed it because he actually was like Andre and it fit him so of course he can act that's what he does! lol :) And WELL I might add.

The movie Freedom Writers was emotional. Some parts of the movie made me feel like I wanted to cry, but I held it in. At the end of the movie a cried a little. Mario was the bomb in the movie. The role of Andre Bryant kinda fit him because of how he grew up in Baltimore.

Mario is absolutely amazing in this movie! <3 <3 So sexy, hot and talented, he'll always be my number 1.

I wanna see the movie so bad. I hope it's good. :)
But for what I've been reading here it sounds really good :D

I love Mario! <3

Mario could play a charming young Denzel like character. I want to see him in glasses lol and a suit. Something like Blair Underwood's character in " Set it off". That would be nice. But he should also find his own style. Play a little bit of everything. I'd like to see something a little more adult and risky also. A "Love Jones" kind of movie, wouldn't that be nice!

Acting with Rory from Gilmore Girls sounds interesting. Can't wait to see him in more movies and guest starring on TV. I'd watch or buy a movie ticket or DVD that Mario is in to support to him and I REALLY don't do that with many singers turned actors. But I really luv me some Mario.

I agree (and again) i would love to see him play opposite my girl Alexis Bledel (rory) from "Glimore Girls". No topic is more serious than racism. It could work, Star cross lovers kind of thing. I know it's been done but i would still love to see that!

...I was very fortunate 2 watch Mario filming Freedom Writers ... hez a splendid actor ... actually, hez just so phenomenal in all his artistry :D ... I would really love 2 see him do something showcasing hiz serious side, because Mario is quite serious & I think he would great doing more real life type movies ... I would love 2 see him do something like Set It Off; something real grown up, sexy & risqay ;) :D
Mario could do that cuz hez a great actor ... :D

I liked his acting when the teacher comes to pick him up for the trip.
lol. It was funny how he and that other boy were the first ones to fight in the movie.
This girl was talking about his "bobble head" and i didn't know what she was talking about untill that crying scene. I liked it.

I just seen this movie like an hour ago and yesterday for the first time and I LOVE THE MOVIE!!!!! IT IS SO GOOD... I THINK MARIO DID GOOD IN THIS MOVIE.. WELL THEY ALL DID!!!!! I WATCHED IT AGAIN.... AGAIN THAT'S ABOUT IT!!!!! :)

I LOVE THIS MOVIE I THINK MARIO DID A REALLY REALLY GOOD JOB. NOT MANY ACTORS CAN TAKE A PART MAKE U BELIEVE THEM BUT MARIO MADE U BELIEVE HIM. I THINK HE WILL BECOME A VERY GOOD ACTOR. THE KID HAS TALENT... I GOT THE DVD WHEN IT WAS RELEASED AND I HAVE WATCHED IT ALMOST 5 TIMES ALREADY.... I LOVE U MARIO...

Those two scenes are my fav also. I was pleased with his performance overall. I would love to see him do a movie with my fav actress Alexis Bledel (Rory) from "Gilmore girls". Maybe something like "Save the last dance" or " Romeo and Juliet". I would pay to see that!
