  • Team Mario???

    So, randomly Mario has his official team on Twitter now... I know that he's trying hard with these people who promote him, but they still are not doing enough. I mean, if Trey Songz has been out five years to Mario's damn near decade, Mario's team needs to step it up. Seriously. There are people out there willing and ready to promote him, and that will do everything to get attention onto his music, but the fact is that waiting until the last minute, or releasing an album with leaked music will be a turn off for anybody. Now, with that they have to work with what they have. They need to think of ways to allow Mario to evolve more. I mean, I found it sad that Trey had his "Invented Sex" video up on his website, via twitter connect.…More

    I love Mario`s music and always have since first listen of him SEVEN years ago. We're about to spawn an entire decade that Mario's been in the music industry and I firmly believe and understand what he spoke about on twitter when he said that "This should be a Marathon and not a Sprint..." I found it highly awkward that people are comparing him to Trey Songz and saying that he has a "Trey-Songz esque" style in their reviews. It's clear that they've only just begun to experience what we as Mario fans have seen as growth for the past seven years, only NOW.

    And now for my review.

    1. Break Up

    Okay, honestly speaking when I first heard this track I HATED IT. I was thinking, "Why is Mario putting out a single where he's being FEATURED? Sean Garrett is ALL up in this song and Gucci has two verses as well. WHERE'S MARIO?" Over time though, this song eventually grew on me, as did on several other fans and went on to be the SMASH hit of the summer and Mario's first chart-topping hit since 2005's "Let Me Love You". A great opening single track due to it's high energy.

    2. Thinkin' About You

    At first listen I was upset that Mario had taken the Autotune route in this song. I hated that he'd jumped on a trend when he has one of the most natural and seasoned voices of my generation. After realizing that it was only a small portion of which he'd used this I overlooked that and got down to the meat of the song which were the lyrics. Definitely a different spin. I wouldn't have recommended this to be the second single, but whatever floats his boat. :)
